[sticky post]Introduction, and masterlist of links

This is a fandom auction community for the UN’s appeal for Syria.

The UN recently launched an appeal for aid that’s the largest in their history and I thought that fandom – who are generally quick to respond to humanitarian crises with fundraising drives – might perhaps be interested in an auction to raise money towards this.

More details on the UN appeal and the scale of the crisis can be found here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-22813207

The ‘How it Works’ post is here; please read and decide if it’s for you before signing up to one of the offer posts below. If you have any questions then please leave a comment on the Q&A post, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Q&A

Collection for help_syria works on AO3
pipmer1
Hello! kate_lear kindly gave me permission to post this link for everyone who has created or is in the process of creating a work for the help_syria auction. I have created a collection on AO3 for everyone to post their works to. Here's the link: http://archiveofourown.org/collections/Help_Syria_Auction

If you're so inclined, please go ahead and add your fic, artwork, whatever it is you created for your bidder to this collection. It would be nice to have them all in one place, for easy searchability.

Thanks for your attention!

Despite the planning that's gone into this, I'm sure there are points that I've overlooked or not thought of - please leave any queries in the comments below and I'll get back to you.

Collaborator Pairing post
Sherlock innocence
kate_lear
This is the post where people interested in offering a collaborative work can find someone to pair up with (a bit like a fandom auction singles column…).

In the subject line, please note what sort of work you do, who you’re seeking, and the fandom(s) for which you're seeking a collaborator. For example, ‘Writer seeks artist, XMFC’, or ‘Artist seeks fanvidder, Sherlock’.

In the body of the comment, please copy-paste the text in the box below and fill in your information:

Before signing up to this post, please have a look through the existing comments to be sure that you can’t pair up with someone who’s already listed.

Please leave all questions on the Q&A post.

Offer post: requests

This is the sign-up post for requests.

If you have a particular thing in mind that you can’t see in any of the offer posts, then comment here with a note of what you’d like and how much you’d be prepared to pay for it. In the subject line, please put your LJ username and fandom(s) in which you’re interested. In the body of the comment, please copy-paste the text in the box below and fill in your information:

**UPDATE** 6pm on Mon 8th July: Bidding is now closed!

Thank you so much to everyone who offered something, and those who bid on them, you're all fantastic!

Next steps:

Offerers: please contact your winning bidder to confirm that your offer still stands. It should be fairly clear from your thread who this is, but drop me a line if you're unsure about anything. You might want to ask for proof of donation from your winning bidder before you start work, but it's up to you whether you choose to do so.

Bidders: please wait to hear from the person you've won before making your bid, just in case extenuating circumstances mean that they can no longer deliver what they've originally signed up to do. Once you've had confirmation from them then please make your donation - links are on this page here. If you don't hear from the person you've won and have tried unsuccessfully to contact them then please do let me know.

Comments on these posts are now frozen, so all communication between offerers and bidders will need to be through PM or email.

Thanks once again to everyone who participated, I'm really delighted we managed to raise some money for the appeal.

BIDDING IS NOW OPEN!

It will remain open until 6pm (UK time) on Monday 8th July. Please reply to the relevant offer comment below to make your bid.

This is the sign-up post for miscellaneous offers that don’t come under any of the other categories (please ensure you’ve read the ‘How it Works’ post before signing up to this). Key-rings, knitted toys, or the entirety of the Paradox series as told by finger puppets… let your imaginations run wild.

NB
If you’re offering a physical item that will need to be posted then:

Offerers: please specify in the ‘Additional notes’ section of your offer who will cover postage charges (whether it should be the bidder, or whether you’d be happy to split costs). If you would like a contribution towards postage costs then bear in mind you’ll need a PayPal address to receive the money. Please also bear in mind that this is a charity auction, and anyone reported as charging excessive amounts for postage with the aim of making a profit will have their offer withdrawn.

Bidders: before you bid, please consider whether you have a postal address that you would be comfortable disclosing to your offerer should you win, and whether you would be able to contribute to postage charges if requested.

If you’re prepared to offer a work or works for more than one fandom then please do one of the following:

(a) if you are willing to produce separate works for the different fandoms, please make a separate entry for each bidding thread (e.g., if I were to offer a work in Sherlock fandom and one in Supernatural fandom then I would have one thread for Sherlock and one for Supernatural).
(b) if you are offering one work but with a choice of possible fandoms, please make a single entry for all bids (e.g., if you’re willing to offer either a work in Sherlock fandom or one in Supernatural, please keep to a single bidding thread).

In the subject line, please put your LJ username and fandom(s) in which you work. In the body of the comment, please copy-paste the text in the box below and fill in your information:

Offer post: collaborations
Sherlock innocence
kate_lear
This is the sign-up post for collaborative offers (please ensure you’ve read the ‘How it Works’ post before signing up to this).

The idea here is to create a space for people who want to buddy up to produce a joint piece of work. For example, a writer and artist might choose to make a joint offer for an illustrated story, or a writer and fanvid creator would produce a story based on a fanvid, that sort of thing.

Please establish your collaborator before both of you sign up to this: this post isn’t intended to be a space for matching people up. If you’re a single writer/artist/podficcer/etc who wants to find someone to pair up with, please check out the Collaborator Pairing post.

If you and your collaborator are prepared to offer a work or works for more than one fandom then please do one of the following:

(a) if you are willing to produce separate works for the different fandoms, please make a separate entry for each bidding thread (e.g., if I were to offer a work in Sherlock fandom and one in Supernatural fandom then I would have one thread for Sherlock and one for Supernatural).
(b) if you are offering one work but with a choice of possible fandoms, please make a single entry for all bids (e.g., if you’re willing to offer either a work in Sherlock fandom or one in Supernatural, please keep to a single bidding thread).

In the subject line, please put your LJ usernames and fandom(s) in which you’re offering the collaborative work. In the body of the comment, please copy-paste the text in the box below and fill in your information:
